Based on the award winning Ultimaker 2, the Ultimaker 2+ features a range of latest innovations for enhanced reliable 3D printing.

The Ultimaker 2+ is an open source desktop 3D printer with a single extruder and swappable nozzle in 4 different diameters: 0.25mm, 0.4mm, 0.6mm and 0.8mm, allowing for easy swapping and greater control of print speeds and finer detail, as well as improved printing with exotic filaments.

The Ultimaker 2+ produces good quality prints and with its advanced settings and heated bed, has the flexibility to use different materials including PLA, PLA/PHA, XT, nGen and other more exotic materials, making it an ideal 3D printer for prototypes, models and engineering parts.

The Ultimaker 2+ also features a geared feeder to select the correct pressure for the filament and optimised airflow, with positioning of the fan-caps just beneath the nozzle producing equal air distribution for smoother prints.

Compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems.

12 month manufacturer warranty included.

The Ultimaker 2+ comes with a swappable nozzle, of 4 diameters: 0.25mm, 0.4mm, 0.6mm and 0.8mm, allowing for easy swapping and greater control over print speeds, finer details and exotic material use.

With new fan-caps, the airflow has been optimised on the Ultimaker 2+ just below the nozzle and equally from both sides to create smoother prints.

The Ultimaker 2+ is based on the award winning Ultimaker 2.  With access to expert settings, more advanced 3D printing can be completed in a wide range of materials.

Being open source, there is a wealth of community knowledge and advice freely shared by its users.

What operating systems do you need to run the Ultimaker 2+ 3D printer?

The Ultimaker 2+ is compatible with Mac, Windows, and Linux operating systems.

Is the Ultimaker 2+ single or multiple extruder?

The Ultimaker 2+ is a single extruder 3D printer with a swappable nozzle in 4 different diameters: 0.25mm, 0.4mm, 0.6mm and 0.8mm. The swappable nozzle allows for quick nozzle change and more control over print speed and finer detail.

With a single nozzle, you can still print support material, it will just be in the same material as your main object. Simply select ‘Support type’ in the Cura software as required. The support structures can then be removed after the print has finished using your fingers or needle nose pliers.

What are the new features in the Ultimaker 2+?

The Ultimaker 2+ has incorporated additional innovative features over the award-winning Ultimaker 2 Extended. The Ultimaker 2+ has:

Geared Feeder: Enhanced print results due to powerful feeder. The new feeder allows you to easily swap filament and choose the correct pressure for your filament.

Swappable Nozzle: Instantly change nozzles for faster or detailed printing. The swappable nozzle comes in 4 diameters: 0.25mm, 0.4mm, 0.6mm and 0.8mm

Optimised Airflow: Enhanced surface quality due to improved cooling aimed below the nozzle and equally from both sides.

What colours/filament can I use?

The Ultimaker 2+ prints well in PLA, PLA/PHA, nGen and XT. These materials are great for 3D printing due to their flexible nature and ease of use. There is a wide choice of colour and material available to order from our Ultimaker filament page.

Due to the open source nature of the Ultimaker 2+, and the ability to change settings prior and during a print, the Ultimaker 2+ can also print in other filaments including woodFill, ABS and other exotics. However, these materials are trickier to print with and may have some limitations and require experimentation. The use of more unusual materials is at your own risk as the quality of the outcome cannot be guaranteed as there can be risk of blockages in your print tip.

Which files can the Ultimaker 2+ 3D printer print?

The Ultimaker 2+ accepts STL, OBJ and DAE file formats. We would recommend using STL files.

How do I get a file to my Ultimaker 2+ for printing?

You can transfer a print-ready file to your Ultimaker 2+ by transferring it using the SD card that comes with your printer. It is not possible to transfer a file directly to the Ultimaker 2 using a USB cable. If your computer does not have an SD card slot you can buy USB/SD Card adaptor.

What software is required for the Ultimaker 2+?

The Ultimaker 2+ uses Cura (open source software) which is free to download to Mac, Windows or Linux operating systems. Cura is the software used to process a design file ready to print, it is not a CAD program. You can download Cura.

What is covered by the Ultimaker warranty?

The Ultimaker warranty covers the cost of any replacement parts for a period of 12 months, subject to terms. After month 3 of your warranty period, Ultimaker reserve the right to levy a charge for shipping, labour, repair and other associated costs.

The Ultimaker warranty does not include any components in the hot-end. For full details of the Ultimaker Warranty, visit https://ultimaker.com/en/resources/16575-ultimaker-warranty
