MAXX Exotic PVA filament, for use with the Leapfrog range of 3D printers, is a water-soluble support material. PVA is particularly useful for printing support structures on more intricate or complex designed parts, or those parts where support is difficult to remove by hand.


Place the finished print in warm water to allow the PVA to slowly dissolve, leaving the remaining ABS or PLA part in tact.


Each MAXX PVA spool contains approx. 500g of filament in 1.75mm diameter.


MAXX PVA is designed for use with Leapfrog Creatr, Leapfrog Creatr HS, Leapfrog Creatr XL and Leapfrog Xeed and is off-white in colour.


Due to the large variation of monitors, video cards, operating systems & Internet browsers and the effects each has on each other, the colours on this page may not exactly match the materials.

Does MAXX PVA work with all 3D printers?

MAXX Exotic PVA filament comes on an open spool (see Tech Specs for spool dimensions) in 1.75mm diameter. Whilst specifically designed for use with the Leapfrog range of desktop 3D printers, it can be used for other commercially available leading brands 3D FDM/FFF printers where printing in water-soluble filament is possible. Please check your specific printer set up, specification and operation of your 3D printer for compatibility.


What are the processing guidelines for MAXX PVA filament?

  • Recommended extruder temperature: 200°C

  • Recommended extrusion multiplier: 0.8

  • Recommended print speed: 20mm / sec 

MAXX PVA is experimental and trickier to print with than standard PLA. Settings may require further adjustment for successful printing. 


Can MAXX PVA be used as support material?

Yes, MAXX PVA filament is designed to be used as a support material. It is particularly suited for more complex or intricate parts that are printed in ABS or PLA, with PVA used for support structures.


The printed part can be placed in warm water to remove the water-soluble support material, leaving your finished ABS or PLA part in tact.
