colorFabb nGen_FLEX Black 1.75mm filament is a semi-flexible 3D printing material. nGen_FLEX is a co-polyester developed by colorFabb and Eastman Chemical Company.

colorFabb nGen_FLEX is a functional flexible filament, with good layer adhesion to create watertight parts which are temperature resistant to 125°C, making it well suited to functional models, parts and prototypes. As a co-polymer, nGen_FLEX is engineered to print at regular speeds and can be printed with multiple parameters; more infill generates firmer and tougher prints, whereas small objects or those printed with little infill will feel quite flexible.

colorFabb nGen_FLEX is rated a shore hardness of 95A, and can be steam sterilised at 121°C.

Each colorFabb nGen_FLEX spool contains approx. 650g of filament and is available in 1.75mm and 2.85mm diameters in Black or Dark Grey.

Due to the large variation of monitors, video cards, operating systems & Internet browsers and the effects each has on each other, the colours on this page may not exactly match the materials.

Does colorFabb nGen_FLEX work with all 3D printers?

The colorFabb testlab features a wide range of popular 3d printers. colorFabb continuously test their products on a range of 3D printers to check the quality of the materials produced and to develop exciting new materials.

The following printers are used in the colorFabb lab: Ultimaker Original, Ultimaker Original Dual Extrusion, Ultimaker 2, Makerbot Replicator 2, Delta Tower (E3D hot-end), Felix 20, Leapfrog Creator, Beethefirst.

As such, colorFabb nGen_FLEX can be used for most commercially available leading brands 3D FDM/FFF printers. Please check your specific printer set up, specification and operation of your 3D printer for compatibility.

What qualities does colorFabb nGen_FLEX have?

colorFabb nGen_FLEX is a co-polymer semi-flexible 3D printing material. It is rated as a shore hardness of 95A, and is temperature resistant up to 125°C. The printed parts can also be steam sterilised up to 121°C.

What are the processing guidelines for colorFabb nGen_FLEX?

  • Recommended extruder temperature: 240-260°C

  • Recommended platform temperature: 80-100°C

  • Recommended print speed: 30 - 60mm/s

What is the diameter tolerance?

colorFabb use laser measurement systems to check the diameter of their filament real time during production. It’s measured over 1000 times per second and helps guarantee that each spool of colorFabb 3D printing filament is produced within tolerance. colorFabb can guarantee 0.05mm +/- on both 2.85mm and 1.75mm colorFabb 3D printing filament.

Is a heated bed necessary for printing with colorFabb nGen_FLEX?

nGen_FLEX works best with a heated bed, with temperatures around 80-100°C. colorFabb also recommend printing onto an adhesive on the print bed, such as buildTak for increased adhesion.

Are there any additional printing tips for colorFabb nGen_FLEX?

Yes, colorFabb advise printing with 0% for tough strong parts with excellent layer adhesion. However, to improve overhanging surfaces, smaller details and top surfaces, some cooling may be required. It is recommended to begin with 50% cooling and adjust as required.
