Markforged Release Aerospace-Ready Materials

Leading manufacturer of industrial 3D printing technologies, Markforged, has released two new materials, purpose built for the requirements of the aerospace industry.

The two new materials, Onyx FR-A and Carbon Fiber FR-A, are compatible with the Markforged Industrial Range (X3, X5) and Markforged X7 industrial 3D printer, and are set to bring huge advantages and capabilities to aerospace manufacturers.

The Onyx FR-A material is a flame-retardant micro carbon fibre filled Nylon designed for use in applications where parts must be non-flammable. Onyx FR-A material earned a UL Blue Card, and is considered V-0 (self extinguishing) at thicknesses greater than or equal to 3mm.

The Carbon Fibre FR-A is a flame-retardant variant of Markforged’s unique ultra-high-strength Continuous Carbon Fibre.

Both FR-A materials come with lot-level material traceability documentation and pass the test suite necessary for qualification under 14 CFR 25.853 for most 3D printable parts.
