CREAT3D 3D Printers at Southern Manufacturing Show 2015

Press Release

28th January 2015

CREAT3D showcase the use of desktop 3D printing for engineering applications at Southern Manufacturing Show.

CREAT3D (www.desktop3dprinter.com), the independent specialist in desktop 3D printers will be showcasing the desktop technology at Southern Manufacturing Show 2015, from 10th to 12th February at Farnborough FIVE, Surrey.

3D printing is being used in both the design and manufacture of products, in fields such as engineering, through to architecture and design development. The process allows the development of unconventional shapes and geometries that are not available through traditional fabrication methods. The use of desktop 3D printers is not about replacing existing manufacturing processes but about enhancing the product design process. The technology can be used to create individual components, prototypes and models for product development, proof of concept and product form, fit and function testing. It is particularly apt for prototype and design development, as design iterations can be quickly and easily produced, at a low cost.

CREAT3D is an independent specialist in desktop 3D printers and handheld 3D scanners. 3D printers at this desktop level, range from approximately £800 to £6,000 in price. CREAT3D hand-pick all their products, focusing on providing a range of characteristics and features to customers, whilst maintaining high quality.

Whilst most extrusion based desktop 3D printers predominantly use plastic based materials, most commonly PLA and ABS, there have been recent material developments. In particular a new co-polymer material developed by ColorFabb, made with Eastman Amphora™ 3D polymer, called XT has been formulated. It is low-odour, styrene-free and BPA (Bisphenol A) free. It is high strength and very high toughness, has a high TG/improved temperature resistance of 75°C and is FDA food contact compliant. These properties make it ideal for engineering companies producing fixtures, jigs, rotary gears & sockets and for form, fit and function testing.

New to Southern Manufacturing Show will be the Robox and Leapfrog Creatr HS desktop 3D printers.

Robox, designed by British company CEL, is a very competitively priced dual head desktop 3D printer. Capable of printing in a variety of materials using differently sized nozzles of 0.3mm and 0.8mm, it provides enhanced print options to the user, ideal for running off small models and prototypes for product testing. The Robox is both a stylish and functional printer, with an enclosed build chamber and heated PEI (Polyetherimide) build platform providing a more stable print environment for increased consistency in print quality.

The Leapfrog Creatr HS  (High Speed) is Leapfrog’s latest desktop 3D printer. It is a fast 3D printer with a large print volume of 14.8 litres with dual nozzles to increase flexibility in print options and speeds. The Leapfrog Creatr HS prints in a wide variety of materials including PLA and ABS, as well as experimental PVA, ideal for parts requiring more complex support structures.

CREAT3D combine their large product offering with expert knowledge and independent advice, to help customers make an informed decision, allied to tailored training and installation packages. As standard, CREAT3D customers receive technical support 6 days a week by phone and email.

See the products in action and talk to CREAT3D experts at Southern Manufacturing Show, stand L110. Orders can be placed for products during the show. Alternatively, all products will be on display in CREAT3D’s showroom in Reading, Berkshire following the event.
